Welcome to Shree Rajaka Sangha, Mumbai
Shree Rajaka Sangha was conceived in mid-forties of Twentieth century. A large majority of members of the Sangha hailed from the erstwhile South Kanara District which was then a part of Madras Presidency. Lack of avenues for socio-economic and educational development in the district made people from the area to migrate to then Bombay in search of better life. This is not only true of the members of the Rajaka Sangha but also true of others who came to Bombay from the District. The travel facilities from South Kanara to Bombay in those days were few and far between. The Sangha proudly record the fact that the members and their families smoothly got assimilated in the city of Mumbai; greatly contributing to the cultural and educational ethos of the city, side by side economic activities. Those who ventured in early part of twentieth century to Bombay had a great vision to conceive, form, nurture and guide the Sangha in its formative stages to its present shape and status.
To put the Sangha on sound legal footing, for its healthy future growth, it was duly registered under the appropriate statutes of the state. The fact that the Sangha voluntarily subjected itself to the regulatory authorities, indicates that the founding fathers and others who followed them were clear that the Sangha's progress should take place in an orderly manner. This was amply borne out by the subsequent events and progress of the Sangha to this day.
Mythology has it that there was constant confrontation between the world–rejecting Shiva and world–affirming Daksha. Sati, the youngest daughter of Daksha married Shiva much against the wishes of Daksha. Once Daksha organized a large Yagna and excluded Shiva and Sati from the elite gathering of this Yagna. Sati got terribly insulted and unable to bear the slight to her husband, she burns herself by fire. The death of his wife, Sati made Shiva experience terrible emotions..
Shiva created Virabhadra to punish Daksha, to avenge the death of Sati, his wife, and Daksha’s daughter as Shiva felt that Daksha was responsible for Sati’s death. After accomplishing Lord Shiva’s commands, Virabhadra returned to Shiva’s abode. Subsequently, Virabhadra took re-birth as Machideva on the orders of Lord Shiva.
There is mythological basis for believing that Madivala Machideva is an avatara of Virabhadra who in turn was the creation of Lord Shiva. Virabhadra took birth on earth as Machideva as mandated by Lord Shiva, as a penance for the inadvertent imprudence having taken place while Virabhadra entered the assembly of Lord Shiva when Lord Shiva was in audience with his devotees – sharanarthis.
